In between cloud bursts, I hosted the Hackney Lib Dem's Annual Summer Garden Party which seems to have been a great success and raised considerable much-needed funds for the Party. We had Chris Huhne MP along who spoke on environmental matters and civil liberties. Around 40 people turned up and, for the most part, it stayed dry-ish. My American friend Karen had helped me the day before and we'd prepared an enormous feast of veggie dishes which people seemed to like alot, with not too much leftover.
After that, Alastair re-appeared briefly from the Exit Festival in Serbia, before heading off for stewarding duties at the rain-sodden Glade Dance Festival in Berkshire. Most fortunately, Arch had bagged a dumped tent from the T-in the Park festival the week before in Kinross.
Alan's now getting down to serious painting of the front of the house and I'm tidying up various loose ends before we head off to Brittany. The first couple of weeks will be busy with Alastair, JW, JW's girlfriend Verity, her sister, and our friends Ken, Caroline and little Sarah who recently celebrated her 6th Birthday (we gave her a retro orange Spacehopper).
Am also attempting to get to grips with various online stuff and wasting some time with Facebook. An imminent gathering of the ex-Recruit Media gang should be fun.
